• You shall have just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin.

• This is a biblical example of the Do Business Righteously Law being disobeyed.

Hear this, you who desire to swallow up the needy,

and cause the poor of the land to fail,

5 saying, ‘When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain?

And the Sabbath, that we may market wheat,

making the ephah small, and the shekel large,

and dealing falsely with balances of deceit;

This biblical example refers to a prophecy that Amos delivered to Israel concerning their transgressions. During this time, Jeroboam the son of Joash reigned over the northern kingdom of Israel, and he did evil in the eyes of YHWH. The northern kingdom of Israel was taken into Assyrian captivity less than fifty years after Amos’s ministry.
