“ ‘You shall not lie carnally with your neighbor’s wife, and defile yourself with her.
Speaker: YHWH | Bible Version: TCMV
You shall not lie carnally with your neighbor’s wife, and defile yourself with her.
This is a biblical example of the Do Not Commit Adultery Law being disobeyed.
At evening, David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. From the roof, he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to look at. 3 David sent and inquired after the woman. One said, “Isn’t this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, Uriah the Hittite’s wife?”
4 David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in to him, and he lay with her (for she was purified from her uncleanness); and she returned to her house. 5 The woman conceived; and she sent and told David, and said, “I am with child.”
2 Samuel 11:2-5 (WEB)
This biblical example is referring to King David's infamous sin of adultery with Bathsheba. After King David slept with Bathsheba, he orchestrated the death of her husband in an attempt to hide his mistake. For adultery, death is the set judgment. However, YHWH spared King David's life and cursed him instead.
This is a present day example of the Do Not Commit Adultery Law being followed.
