“ ‘Don’t profane your daughter, to make her a prostitute; lest the land fall to prostitution, and the land become full of wickedness.
Speaker: YHWH | Bible Version: TCMV
Don’t profane your daughter, to make her a prostitute;
Lest the land fall to prostitution, and the land become full of wickedness.
This is a biblical example of the Do Not Prostitute Daughter Law being disobeyed.
When Judah saw her, he thought that she was a prostitute, for she had covered her face. 16 He turned to her by the way, and said, “Please come, let me come in to you,” for he didn’t know that she was his daughter-in-law.
She said, “What will you give me, that you may come in to me?”
17 He said, “I will send you a young goat from the flock.”
This biblical example is referring to Judah and his daughter-in-law, Tamar. Tamar was married to Judah's firstborn son, Er. Er was wicked, so YHWH killed him. Judah told Tamar to wait until his younger son Shelah grows up, and he will complete the brotherly duty. However, after Shelah grow up, Judah did not give Tamar to him. So, Tamar disguised herself as a prostitute and had sex with Judah.
YHWH did not institute the Book of The Law yet during this time, but prostitution was shunned upon and having sex with a widowed daughter-in-law was not common practice.
This is a present day example of the Do Not Prostitute Daughter Law being followed.
