King Rehoboam took counsel with the old men who had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, “What counsel do you give me to answer these people?”
7 They replied, “If you will be a servant to this people today, and will serve them, and answer them with good words, then they will be your servants forever.”
8 But he abandoned the counsel of the old men which they had given him, and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him, who stood before him.

This biblical example refers to when King Solomon's son, Rehoboam, was crowned king of Israel after Solomon passed away. Rehoboam did not heed the counsel of the elders but instead listened to the advice of his peers. This decision led to the splitting of the kingdom, with Rehoboam reigning over Judah and Benjamin, and Jeroboam being crowned king over the other ten tribes.

The king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, of whom the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah, 16 and he said, “When you perform the duty of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them on the birth stool, if it is a son, then you shall kill him; but if it is a daughter, then she shall live.” 17 But the midwives feared God, and didn’t do what the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the baby boys alive.
This biblical example refers to when the children of Israel were still in Egypt prior to their exodus with Moses. At that time, a new Pharaoh ruled over Egypt, and he feared the children of Israel because they were becoming too numerous. As a result, he commanded the Hebrew midwives to kill all newborn male children to stunt the growth of the Israelite population.
