YHWH spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, 2 “This month shall be to you the beginning of months. It shall be the first month of the year to you.

This biblical example is referring to the year after The First Month of The Year Law was given to Moses. Israel was out of Egypt and just completed the construction of The Tabernacle for the first time.

Interesting Facts

The name was changed to 'Nisan' after Israel entered Babylonian captivity.

January 1st is an artificial New Year, credited to the Gregorian calendar.

An individual, in The House of Israel, that recognized the Gregorian New Year as the official New Year, disobeyed The First Month of The Year Law.

On the Hebrew calendar, the 1st of Abib/Nisan marks the beginning of YHWH's New Year.
